Thank You for the Scars and…

The exhibition presents the results of the Thank You project. In this project, individuals with intellectual disabilities from Tallinn and Satakunta share the joys and things they are thankful for in their lives. The exhibition also features Finnish artists and other participants in the project, with the opening on January 13th.

The exhibition is open from January 13th to February 15th, 2006, and is part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Satakunta Special Care District.

Thank You Project

The goal of the Thank You project is to restart cultural and artistic collaboration and exchange of experiences between people with intellectual disabilities from Satakunta and Tallinn. The project will result in a joint exhibition of artworks and writings, as well as a high-quality art book compiled from them. The content and theme of the artworks and writings are the thoughts of people with intellectual disabilities on the things they are grateful for.

In Tallinn, the project’s partner is Tallinn I Internaattkoulu, with which the special care district has been collaborating for several years. In Satakunta, the project is led by the special care district, but all training schools and other organizations in Satakunta’s intellectual disability care are invited, including both public and private units, as well as the Satakunta Art Committee.
