PONNISTUS GROUP: LANDSCAPE
The Ponnistus Group is an open art community founded to promote, implement, and showcase the ideas and projects of young visual artists from Turku, both in Turku and elsewhere in Finland. The group consists of actively working visual artists, most of whom graduated from the Turku University of Applied Sciences’ Fine Arts program between 2006 and 2007. The Landscape exhibition at Poriginal Gallery features 12 artists.
In their Landscape exhibition, the Ponnistus Group presents as many perspectives on the landscape as there are creators. While the theme of landscape may seem worn, it can still be approached from many angles. Everyone has some experience and view of it. The works in the exhibition comment on the urban environment and the fleeting, changing nature of the landscape, or depict inner soulscapes that never truly existed.
The exhibition features painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, glass etching, and installation.
Exhibiting artists:
Tonja Goldblatt, Markku Haanpää, Antti Jussila, Kari-Petteri Kakko, Liina Kuittinen, Jani Helge Muurinen, Jarkko Rantanen, Heidi Reponen, Nea Silavuori, Julle Tainio, Sanna Vainionpää, and Johanna Yliportimo.
The exhibition is supported by the Arts Council of Southwest Finland.
