WOODCUTS – Tuukka Peltonen

I have lived and worked in the countryside for nearly ten years, surrounded by fields, forests, and lakes. Over time, the surrounding nature and landscape have slowly rooted themselves in my consciousness. As the years have passed, the shapes and places around me have taken on a special significance.

My exhibition at Poriginal Gallery consists of woodcuts created over the past year. The thematic whole is formed by seven large-scale woodcuts mounted on canvas.

At the core of these works is the observation of existence—the understanding of the experience of being human and the pursuit of humanity. The theme of the works is linked to the landscape in which the human figure exists. However, the landscapes in my works are not based on realistic views. Instead, they stem from a sense or an impression of what the landscape contains.

The final form emerges when the past merges with the present moment.
