PAINTINGS – Anssi Törrönen
In my works from recent years, I have explored the everyday environment of human life, urban views, and social issues. In my latest paintings at the Poriginal Gallery, I have made more room for what emerges from the subconscious.
As a painter, I trust my intuition. Currently, I find the theme and form in painting interesting when it is not easily verbalized and feels open to multiple interpretations. My work is characterized by a cyclical nature in terms of both themes and approach. The paintings at Poriginal Gallery have similarities with works I made in the 1990s, such as the illusion of shapes, a modest color palette, and a focus on the boundary between abstraction and representation. Now, however, with a couple of decades of experience, I feel I can trust more in improvisation and the possibility of surprise.
