Ensio Härkönen

The extremes of emptiness and fullness, light and darkness. Memories of the past, stories, and narratives evoke images, stirring the imagination. They sensitize us to see pictures that have never actually existed for me; pictures that have been in the memories of the past and are real in their lives.

The alternation between empty and full space when starting work. First, one must empty, then fill again. A continuous alternation: empty in the morning, full in the evening.

I trust in the freedom given by experience to detach in a way that feels like ecstasy, entering a space where there is no longer a past or a future. A space from which the right kind of contradiction emerges between the learned and the innate.

In this exhibition at the Poriginal Gallery, my site-specific works Ratapiha and Raja are on display.”
