INTERMEDIATE SPACES – Heikki Hautala

My exhibition mainly consists of paintings, ink drawings, and wooden sculptures created over the past six months. As before, the human figure is at the core of my work. In my latest paintings, heads fall, rise, or float, detached from their bodies. They are in some kind of intermediate space. The figures undergo a kind of mutation or metamorphosis, some gaining additional senses, third eyes, and magical powers, while others lose their shape, merge into endless darkness, and lose the last remnants of their humanity. Stimuli are firing from both inside and outside. Everything seems to be in crisis.

Between infinities, there is a space we call life. A toast to it!
