PAINTINGS – Mia Lehtinen
I graduated from the Free Art School in 2003. The different effects and nuances of colors fascinate me. It is the greatest inspiration for my painting.
I started painting more consistently in 2014. Before that, I worked intermittently.
My painting process is sometimes impulsive, intuitive, and spontaneous. Often, I have to think for a long time about the relationships between different elements.
The expressive style breaks down form and representationality. Often, abstract expression has a representational starting point. It is often a simplification of observation into existing color surfaces.
Since my final project, I have been interested in bringing out the white, thin, gauzy brushstroke in my paintings. I am surprised that winter influences my painting. The white snow, in its beauty, covers nature, and it holds a deeper meaning for me. Everything white and misty, like a down comforter, snow, ice, fog, clouds, mist, etc., gives me the inspiration to paint.
I hope that everyone sees personal things in my work and that the paintings speak without words.
