MEMORY RETURNS – Päivi Jokinen
Oil paintings that I imagine I am carving, knitting, and engraving with a brush.
The color lives both dark and subdued, while something brighter and lighter rings alongside it.
The themes are memory, instincts, senses, and attitudes, dealing with events that have accompanied me, this moment, and hopes for the future.
Painting is about unleashing imagination and emotions, it’s exciting and inspiring.
Almost all of my paintings feature a head, eyes, and hands. The head overflows with thoughts, the eyes have caught many words, and the hands are not clenched.
