THREE CIRCLES – Inka Kivalo, Heli Tuori-Luutonen, Riitta Turunen
“Kolmen piiri” (Three Circles), featuring Inka Kivalo, Heli Tuori-Luutonen, and Riitta Turunen, is currently on display at Poriginal Gallery. We have gathered a joint exhibition of new works, some of which are previous pieces as well. Our aim is to create a cohesive presentation that suits the atmospheric gallery space.
Inka Kivalo is a poet of woven images, who paints with threads slowly, layer by layer, thread by thread – listening to the colors. The works capture lived moments, the trace of the hand, the glow of colors, and the tactile nature of materials. She has also been awarded Textile Artist of the Year and the Knight of the Order of the Lion of Finland.
Heli Tuori-Luutonen has a distinctive and strong expression. Her small embroidered “watercolors” are intense microcosms. With the same sensitivity to color and confidence, she has created new structural works. Heli also excels in monumental sizes, as evidenced by numerous public commissioned pieces. She has also been honored with the title of Textile Artist of the Year.
Riitta Turunen uses various materials and combines different techniques. Often, her works are built from small pieces like a mosaic, or she creates a series of variations on a theme. In this exhibition at Poriginal, the focus is on delicate, translucent works embroidered on chiffon. These are accompanied by more solid wall pieces.
