THE IMAGE GRADUALLY RETURNS TO MIND – Tero Kontinen

My artistic practice explores the dimensions of drawing. I deconstruct individual drawings into fragments and reassemble them into a larger whole.

My process resembles exploration—combining different elements creates unexpected contrasts. At the same time, the chance encounter of seemingly similar forms generates new associations that might otherwise have gone unnoticed.

The chaotic world of fragments and pieces begins to take shape, transforming into a new, complete image—one that starts to live a life of its own.

I am particularly interested in the interaction between material and illusion—how an image starts to emerge and take form. Different color surfaces may suggest space or landscape, providing subtle hints of depth and setting.

My works do not reference any specific sensory experience or memory; rather, they are compositions layered over time—fragments of images lingering at the edge of consciousness.

The works presented at Poriginal Gallery have been created over the past few years.
