OMEGASUMU – Petri Hagner

OMEGASUMU
Multichannel Installation
I 10 min. / II 8 min. / III 4 min. / IV 6 min. (4 video loops)

The Omegasumu film is set in an imagined Soviet Finland in 1961, the year when the Soviet Union conducted the largest nuclear test in the world (Tsar Bomba). The story of the film revolves around a human’s struggle to survive amidst the madness they have created. The subject is examined from the perspective of a soldier. He attempts to escape the labyrinth of his mind with the help of a person whose intentions are hard to decipher.

The multichannel version of the film at Poriginal Gallery dives deeper into the main character’s subjective, hallucination-like experience of the events. The man listens to and observes the world outside his bunker. Through technology, he can look far into the stars, but never receives an answer to his most profound questions.
