SOLACE – Photography and Installation – Tiina Palola
The forest surrounds me, young trees standing beside me like siblings. Their crowns arch overhead, and their roots support both me and the ground I stand on.
The forest has always been a place of safety for me. Trees hold a quiet strength that has a profound effect on me. The forest draws me in, calms my mind, and gives direction to my thoughts.
My exhibition at Poriginal Gallery reflects my personal relationship with the forest. In the gallery’s downstairs exhibition space, my installation Solace is on display. It consists of vertical tree trunks among which visitors can walk. Solace is an experience of the forest and a self-portrait of sorts.
In the gallery foyer, my photography series Weave of Thoughts is exhibited. The photographs depict white fabric winding around trees in a dimly lit forest. The works illustrate the tight weave of thoughts and emotions—one that, when restrictive, can suffocate but, when loosened, brings liberation.
