ANNELI HILLI – PRINTMAKING | HELKA IMMONEN – PAINTINGS
We have worked in neighboring studios. It felt interesting to see whether our works would connect on some level.
Anneli Hilli – Printmaking
I was born in Vampula, Satakunta, and our summer place is in Köyliö. Twenty years ago, while living in Rauma, I held a painting exhibition at Poriginal Gallery. Nowadays, in addition to painting, I also create printmaking.
For this exhibition at Poriginal Gallery, I have brought etchings and painterly carborundum prints. I seek perspective on the world through circular forms. I try to understand time through childhood and, in my spiritual portrait studies, I depict the impression a person leaves behind.
Helka Immonen – Paintings
I am a visual artist from Espoo, working primarily with oil paints. My process is slow—I apply multiple overlapping, semi-transparent layers on canvas. A single painting can take years to complete. In my studio, in front of the canvas, I organize and structure the world. My works process my thoughts and experiences in an abstracted form. Color plays a fundamental role in expressing emotions and ideas in my paintings.
