BIRDS AND OTHERS – Esko Railo
Esko Railo is a 54-year-old artist and graphic designer from Pori, who is also a nature photographer and creates bronze sculptures. In graphic art, he uses both intaglio and relief printing techniques almost equally. He also teaches these techniques at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences and serves as the responsible teacher for graphic arts.
Railo studied at the Orivesi Art School in 1982-83 and at the Kankaanpää School of Fine Arts from 1983 to 1986. He has worked as a teacher at Pori Art School from 1986 to 1997 and at the Kankaanpää School of Fine Arts, which later became a university of applied sciences, since 1990. He still works there as a full-time part-time teacher.
Railo has had numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Finland and abroad. His works are included in public and private collections, such as the Alvar Aalto Museum, Aine Art Museum, Amos Anderson Museum, Emil Cedercreutz Museum, and the Helsinki City Art Museum, to name a few.
Railo is a member of the The Association of Finnish Printmakers, the Pori Printmakers Association, the Turku Printmakers Association, the Artists’ Association, of Pori and the Finnish Nature Photographers Association (Suomen Luonnonvalokuvaajat).
