FRAGILE – Johanna Antinkaapo, Hannele Kinnunen
Handle with care.
As events layer upon each other, distant violence becomes part of an assumedly peaceful reality. Does a truly non-violent space even exist? Realities form a fabric where all times and places are simultaneously present. Do violent images fade from our minds even in our most balanced moments within this fabric of realities? What would such a space be like?
What happens to our carefully designed and tightly controlled lives when things no longer fall into place, or when something disrupts the idyllic world we have built? How fragile is that idyll? What is life, really? How do we live it, and what about it fascinates us?
Johanna Antinkaapo (b. 1977) and Hannele Kinnunen (b. 1968) pose a series of questions and seek to understand different ways of living and experiencing life. Their works are created using various printmaking techniques.
The exhibition has been supported by the Arts Council of Varsinais-Suomi, the Arts Council of Finland, and the Cultural Foundation of Varsinais-Suomi.
