GOING THROUGH THE HOLY HOUSES – Annamari Kinnunen

The main theme of the exhibition is the home, which is explored through the concepts of shelter and security. Kinnunen’s works explore the contradictions between the security of home and the uncertainty of time, the home as a place lived and experienced, and the construction of the home. The concept of home has been extended to include not only the dwelling and the yard, but also the home town.

Kinnunen is inspired by different surfaces, shapes and textures. Visual perception creates a kind of continuum of thought, a process that builds meaning and interpretations around the visual manifestation. In the works, perception, experience and emotion intertwine to create new kinds of meaning, ultimately taking shape in an abstract form. Kinnunen works in a variety of fields including graphic art, drawing and installation. His works are often serial.
