IN COLOURED WATERS – Pori Art School
Spring exhibition & final work exhibition for children and young people of Pori Art School
Opening of the exhibition on Friday 19.4. at 18-20, welcome!
Pori Art School opens the Spring Exhibition for Children and Youth in Poriginal Gallery from 20.4. to 7.5.2024.
A cheerfully colourful exhibition will be built from sea-themed student work.
The Poriginal Gallery has been transformed into a mysterious sea world, where you can adventure in a glittering coral cave and explore the extraordinary creatures and plants of the seabed. Amid hanging seaweed, jellyfish and mermaids, the atmosphere is enhanced by a marine soundscape and the viewer can feel as if they are walking inside an immersive spatial artwork. The spring exhibition offers plenty of colourful things to explore in an imaginary world created by pupils aged 4-19.
The gallery also features an exhibition of the final work of young art school graduates. A final project is a piece of work designed and executed independently by a student and takes almost a whole academic year to complete. This spring’s final projects are made using a variety of techniques, including painting, digital work, three-dimensional construction and animation. In spring 2024, Hilppa Hakala, Samuel Hietaoja, Akseli Jantunen, Venla Lehtonen, Enna Lähteenmäki, Fanny Merelin, Iiris Nikitin, Louna Rantanen, Miska Rinne, Katri Sahi, Jan-Mikael Stjernberg and Linda Zhang will present their final works.
Admission to the exhibition is free.
The Pori Art School offers basic art education for children, young people and adults aged 4-19 according to the broad curriculum of visual arts. Currently, 400 children and young people and 40 adults study at the school. Pori Art School is a member of the Association of Fine Arts Schools and is active not only in the regional, but also in the national and international visual arts education scene, for example by participating in the development of basic art education and in various visual arts projects and exhibitions.
