FORMS OF BEING – Mari Oikarinen

I see colorful dreams
I sew a garden
paths branch from the hallway
deeper into rooms
heart chambers
the mycelium of the mind
I give you this map
a drawing burnt to the bottom
a bag of peeled willow
shavings

A rose is a disease
a tulip a fever,
a petal striped by a virus
turns

open your flower bouquet,
write
in the book of the living.

Mari Oikarinen’s (b. 1981) exhibition Forms of Being seeks connections between the mind and body, forests and roadsides, and constructed rooms. The works are made of wood, charcoal, glue, paper, color, thread; traces of pencil and axe. They were created in the spring of 2021.
