MEDIA RELEASE
Painter Sirpa Ojala (b. 1960) lives and works in Pomarku. She graduated from Pori Art School in 1982. Ojala has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Satakunta since 1977. Last year his gouaches were also shown at the 61st annual exhibition of the Finnish Art Associations in Poleen, Pieksämäki. He has held a dozen solo exhibitions, including one in 1999 with a grant from the Satakunta Art Committee. Ojala is a member of the Pori Society of Artists and the Art Association NYTE ry. The unifying factor in Sirpa Ojala’s paintings is the use of blue tones. Ultramarine blue as a top colour or folded to depict snowy nature or plants that have lost their flow of life. Nature, forest and still life are recurring themes in the paintings. The landscape, reduced to geometric forms, is a mosaic of lights and shadows. The forest series takes on a life of its own. Sirpa Ojala addresses the fundamental questions of human life – the cycle of birth, life and death.
