Visual artist Pauli Vuorisalo brings his exhibition Jazz-Inspired Improvisations to Poriginal Gallery in Eteläranta, Pori. Opening to the public on June 28, the exhibition features paintings, graphic art, and textile art, including unique, hand-knotted works crafted in China in recent years. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with Pori Jazz Festival, for which Vuorisalo designed the Pori Jazz 2008 poster.

A versatile visual artist, Pauli Vuorisalo held his first art exhibition in Pori’s Taidevintti in 1965. Born in Satakunta, Kankaanpää, he played a key role in founding Kankaanpää Art School. Later, France and French culture became and continue to be the most significant influences on his artistic career.

Vuorisalo’s career spans exhibitions in Finland and abroad since the 1960s, including shows at Galerie Artek, Art Club (Antibes, France), Galerie Donner, Galleria Bronda, Galerie Hörhammer, Galleria Ferin, Arabia, The Finnish Glass Museum, Rauma Art Museum, Iittala Glass Museum, and Petrozavodsk Art Museum, among others. His collaborative projects include partnerships with Arabia, Iittala, WWF, Marimekko, and dancer Riitta Vainio (a dance-inspired series). He has also created an award-winning book illustration for WSOY.
