Porin Saskiat ry, Scholarship Exhibition

In my recent work, I have been exploring the expressive possibilities of paper pulp. The soft surface of unbleached paper feels like skin. It has allowed me to realise new figurative ideas.
The human body for me is above all an expression of the human relationship. In my sculptures, I have wanted to express my own human relationship and, in general, the relationship between two people of different sexes. The relationship can take many forms: warm and affectionate or tense and distant. Relationships often involve the use of power; acceptance of the other is not always self-evident, even in the closest relationships.
I study sculpture in my final year at Kankaanpää Art School (SAMK / Kuvataide, Kankaanpää). I have been involved in the Pori Art Museum’s “Around and bucket project”. Together with three different schools, we created an environmental artwork “Saara lykkeli” in Mikkola roundabout last year. I would like to thank Pori Saskiat ry for the opportunity to hold this exhibition.
