RETROSPECTIVE – VELI GRANÖ
Veli Granö (b. 1960) is known as a photographer. His most publicised works, such as “Onnela” (1986), depicted Finnish garden art through direct photographic expression. “The Kingdom of Objects” (1997), on the other hand, explored the world of the collector.
The exhibition series, published and noticed as books, have also created an image of the traditional documentary photographer. However, it is not easy to place his entire oeuvre under the heading of photography or any other unambiguous title. Poriginal’s exhibition therefore attempts to build a complete picture of his multi-dimensional output. In Pori, you will not see the photographs of garden artists or collectors.
Poriginal Gallery’s exhibition will highlight his lesser-known work. The works on display combine metal and glass elements with light, fibre optics and TV images. The works cover his output from the early eighties to the late nineties. The works in the exhibition reveal Granö’s interest in the illusion of the image and the influence of the image.
The works of this artist from Pori have never been shown here before.
